Jacko vsits Bee Gee coffin after celeb-packed
funeral
by MALCOLM BALFOUR
Miami
Beach - Unable to mend a broken heart. Barry Gibb and Michael
Jackson did no attend funeral services for Maurice Gibb yesterday
- but turned up later to pray privately at Bee Gee's coffin.
More than an hour after the funeral ended - and after Maurice's
twin, Robin, and other family members left the Riverside Funeral
Chapel - the twins' elder brother, Barry, pulled up with Jacko
in a Limo.
Gibb, in black and longtime family friend Jachson, wearing
a turquoise suit, went inside for a private goodbye to the
53-year-old pop legend, who died unexpectedly in the hospital
Sunday, just days after emergency abdominal surgery.
"He was too distraught to go to the funeral," a family spokesman
said. "He and Michael went in for private prayers."
About 150 mourners attended the private funeral - including
Eric Clapton, Harry Casey of K.C. and the Sunshine Band, singer
Randy Nowman and criminal lawyer Roy Black.
No music was played, but many speakers poured their emotions
into words of tribute.
Gibb's widow, Yvonne, who arrived with their children, Adam
and Samantha, who are in their 20s, sobbed quietly in a seat
behind her husband's coffin as Adam told how much he missed
his "fun dad."
Palm Beach, Fla. - Michael Jackson
is house-shopping in south Florida, and recently toured a
17,000-square-foot mansion on the market for $45 million,
his real estate broker said yesterday.
The reclusive pop star decided against the beachfront dwelling,
said broker James Meiskin, of New York. He expects Jackson
will decide whether to buy a home in the area in the next
few months. "He's always enjoyed the state of Florida,", Meiskin
said.
