POST FOCUS ON COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE
by LOIS WEISS
Va-va-vrrooom.
Ultimate boy-toy automaker Ferrari
is apparently riding into its first ever city showroom,
just one Park Avenue
block away from competitor Mercedes-Benz. The car company has chosen a luxe
corner spot at 410 Park Ave., on the southwest corner of
55th Street, where it intends to display - but not sell -
Ferraris and Maseratis.
Mercedes holds down a corner one
block north, at 430 Park Ave.
According to the Slatin Report, the
4,300-square-foot space was vacant for three years while
the Cushman & Wakefield duo
of Gene Spiegelman and Michael O'Neill worked for
the Eastgate Holdings ownership, carefully vetting all
tire-kickers
to
find a creditworthy tenant.
At
one point, sources told The Post, there were 26 offers, including
one from BMW, which
was seeking a showplace for its Rolls-Royce Phantom. That
company
may now be talking to Douglas Durst about space at 57th Street and
12th Avenue. Eric Lassoff, of James S. Meiskin's Plymouth
Partners, represented the Italian car company. Neither
the brokers
nor the owner could be reached for comment.
The asking rent was $150 a foot for the space.
